Economic Development

Supporting a comprehensive approach to workplace preparedness, The Community College Workforce Alliance maintains its commitment to economic development by providing educational programs for current and future employees that enhance marketplace knowledge, skills and abilities.

Through its commitment to economic development, CCWA provides education and skill enhancement opportunities for new, expanding and existing businesses in the Greater Richmond area. The goal is to support global economic competitiveness and to assist the community by providing a better quality of life, diversified employment sources, higher levels of income, and new job opportunities.

CCWA responds rapidly and effectively to meet the needs of business and industry through its adaptable offering of job fairs, assessments and training. We can offer your employees training in a variety of fields.  Flexibility is the key, and training can be arranged at your work site, on campus, or at any location you choose.

Job Fairs

Job fairs are a helpful way to inform prospective employees about your company and for you to meet the applicants. We offer a variety of facilities for rent and can offer many services to assist with your event. Our many convenient locations are well known and easy for applicants to locate. Three-way partnerships are common with the prospective employer, the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) and the Community College Workforce Alliance.

Assessments

We can administer computer or paper based assessments of your choice for both pre-employment applicants or current employees. Assessments can be offered on a stand-alone basis or as part of an entire hiring or training program. We also offer WorkKeys® profiles, assessments and training. Training

Special certificate and technical degree programs can be established to support industry or industry clusters with the full college resources available. Pre-employment and plant start-up training will be customized for each employer. The range of topics in these non-credit, fast track instructional areas is varied - from team building, diversity, and effective supervision to safety, manufacturing processes, computer skills and statistical process control.  A list of suggested topics is available for your review.  Specialized workshops also can be developed for your individual needs.  For more information visit our customized training page.

Facilities

The Community College Workforce Alliance can provide facilities in support of job fairs, applicant testing and interviewing, as well as training.
