The Virginia Career Readiness Certificate certifies core employability skills that are critical to business and industries.
What skills are covered with the CRC?
Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Information. These are applied skills assessed, specifically skills that are necessary in order to be productive and successful in the workplace.
What levels of skills are recognized with the CRC?
Certificates are awarded at the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. These levels are constructed to certify skills readiness for approximately 35%, 63% and 80%, respectively, of the jobs across all industry sectors.
There are really two distinct methods for businesses to use the CRC. The certificate can be considered along with other aspects of an individuals resume when making employment and training decisions by any employer in a similar manner of considering high school diplomas or GEDs relative to an applicants academic skills. The CRC criteria can also be used as the sole-criteria or qualifier by companies using the WorkKeys® assessment system.
How would the CRC fit into an employer's hiring practices?
CRC provides an objective and reliable measure of an individual's job-related skill-sets. An employer can consider these measures at any point in the recruiting process that can make fair and effective employment decisions possible.
If I have a high school diploma do I still need a CRC?
Yes, your CRC proves that you actually have workplace skills that may not be available with other HS graduates.

Do I need an appointment for assessments or do I just walk in?
Appointments are required. Check CCWA's web page for scheduled assessment sessions.
How much time do I need to take the assessments?
Plan on about three hours.
